Being the captain of an IPL team is the dream of many cricketers, but franchises do not hand over the leadership group responsibility to a player so easily. First and foremost, he must have a good record as an individual player as well as have the ability to motivate the players.
Hardik Pandya proved that a player can perform even better if given the captaincy, whereas in Ravindra Jadeja's case the captaincy worked in a negative way. Wins and losses are part of cricket, but the following two players have never lost a game in the league while leading their franchise.
1. Rashid Khan holds 100% win record as IPL captain till date
Leg spinner Rashid Khan became the first Afghanistan player to captain an IPL team during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. When Hardik Pandya suffered an injury, the team management named vice-captain Rashid Khan as the stand-in captain for the league match against Chennai Super Kings.
David Miller played a special innings in that game to help the Ahmedabad franchise pull off incredible run-chases. This has been Rashid's only game as captain so far.
2. Ross Taylor
Former New Zealand cricket team batsman Ross Taylor also holds a 100% win record as the captain of the Indian Premier League franchise. Back in 2013, he got a chance to captain the Pune Warriors team. Taylor got only one game as captain and in that match Pune defeated the mighty Chennai Super Kings.
While Rashid Khan and Ross Taylor have 100% win records as captains in the league, there are also players who failed to win a single match while captaining a team in the tournament. Incidentally, both Rashid Khan and Ross Taylor won the only match of their captaincy careers against Chennai Super Kings, one of the strongest teams in the league.
