Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Rameez Raja has shared his inputs on the status of the 2023 Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan. The former opening batsman has declared that he will oppose taking the event out of Pakistan. Even before this, Rameez Raja has made such statements.
Just a few days back, Rameez Raja had threatened that he would pull out if Pakistan could not organize the Asia Cup 2023. Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has insisted that India will not travel to Pakistan. Shah had also said that there is a need for a neutral venue for the tournament.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rameez Raja said, "We don't really want to speak but the fans want us to react." The story that is being made about India-Pakistan by India, there is bitterness among the fans. I think the government has a policy and I don't know whether the Indian team will come or not. Asia Cup means a lot to the fans, it is a multi-country tournament. We will protest.
The atmosphere was buzzing with 90,293 in attendance during the India-Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Men in Blue defeated their arch-rivals by four wickets. Team India had defeated Pakistan in a thrilling way on the last ball. Earlier, two matches were seen between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. In one, Team India won, while in the other, Pakistan won. The decision regarding the Asia Cup will be taken in the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council. What will be the stand of BCCI, it has to be seen.
